Using FREE Innovative Web Resources in the Classroom
I am compiling lessons using free resources off the Web. Most of these are relatively new and highly engaging for students. Have suggestions? Please add them!
Liquid Labs
This unit contains a series of 4 labs investigating the different properties of four different liquids - water, alcohol, corn syrup and soap. At the conclusion of the individual labs, students will work cooperatively to design their own experiments in the Paper Towel Challenge.

The real focus here is on the scientific process, even more than the content.

Avoiding Plagiarism
These resources can lead to some interesting discussions about the nature of plagiarism, especially the internet-fueled "cut-and-paste" variety. Students will be given examples of inappropriate paraphrasing, collaboratively practice paraphrasing, and then work independently on paraphrasing.
Copyright, Fair Use and Creative Commons: Information and Resources
This collection will help you understand licensing issues, how they matter in your classroom, and how we can educate our students to be more effective media users. Sites with Creative Commons and royalty-free resources are included, as well as lesson plans and tools to help integrate licensing awareness in your classroom.
Science Fair Resources
This is a collection of science fair resources for educators and students. This collection includes helpful hints, additional resources, and project ideas to get started.
Articles for Educator's Professional Development
This collection will include articles that discuss issues I think are important to every educator, although I may be biased to science and technology.
