The breadcrumb is a navigational element found at the top of each screen just below the Header.

Breadcrumbs are named after the idea of leaving a trail of where you have been, i.e. showing which page you have come from. Curriki’s breadcrumb may be different than other sites you are used to. While some sites do display the exact path you have taken to a page, the loose structure of Curiki's content repository doesn't allow us to do so without causing a lot of confusion. Because of this, Curriki's breadcrumb works in 2 distinct modes:
1. Any pages you see that are not resources have a fairly straightforward hierarchy and can display a path more like what you might be used to from other sites. For instance, if you are navigating through a Group area, you will see that the first listing in the breadcrumb remains on the Group's name, the next link displays the tab you are viewing, and any additional links in the breadcrumb show you the action you have selected.
2. Any pages you view that are learning resources will display a path through the collection that contains that resource down to the page you are currently viewing.
So for instance, if you are navigating through a Group space to find some great content they have contributed, your breadcrumb will reflect the 1st mode until you have selected a specific resource, then will switch to the 2nd mode. Once you have finished looking at the resource and return to the Group space, the breadcrumb will once again reflect the 1st mode.
Please note that if a page links to an external site, then Curriki is no longer able to display a breadcrumb to help with navigation. When you move to an external site, your browser's back button is your best option to return you to your spot on Curriki.
